first things first

The most important step to preparing for professional pictures is finding a photographer whose style resonates with you. Browse portfolios, read reviews, and have a consultation if you have further questions. Keep in mind, the right photographer will not only give you stunning images but also make you feel at ease during the entire process.

location planning

If you have a location in mind, great. If you have an idea of the vibe/setting you want, but don't know where, cool - I'll help you. We can toss back and forth some ideas to help find the perfect location for your needs.

OUTFIT PLANNING

The outfit you choose will be a huge role in how the overall images turn out. Coordinate with your family/partner to choose outfits that will compliment each other without being too matchy-matchy. Keep in mind the location and theme of your shoot when choosing your attire. Remember, confidence is key. So make sure you're wearing something you feel comfortable in!

Hair and Makeup Tips

Today is not the day to try new techniques and pop zits. Leave them alone, it's much easier to edit out a small blemish than to irritate your skin! I always suggest going for a little more amplified than your normal routine, to ensure it shows up well on camera. For hair, choose a style the suits the location and weather conditions.

day of shoot checklist

As the session day approaches, it's helpful to make a checklist to remember everything you need for the session to ensure it goes as smoothly as possible. Double check outfits, pack any props/accessories, and make sure you know the route to your location. Most importantly, arrive with a positive attitude and be ready to have fun!

posing tips and comfort

Posing for photos can feel definitely awkward at first, but your photographer will guide you through it. Focus on each other rather than the camera, and try to move naturally. Simple gestures like holding hands, laughing, or whispering can create genuine, candid moments. The more relaxed and connected you are, the more authentic your photos will be.

after the photoshoot

Your photographer will typically provide a timeline for when you can expect to receive your gallery by. I send sneak peaks over within 24 hours to help ease the anxiety, and no later than 10 business days for the full gallery
