Mary & Lena’s Mommy & Me Painting Session at Deer Lakes
Some sessions are just good for the soul. This one — with sweet little Lena and her mama, Mary — felt exactly like that.
We met at Deer Lakes Park on a sunny day, just the two of them, a handful of paintbrushes, and a blanket tucked into a quiet little spot. Lena is three (and full of energy in the best way), and from the second she picked up a paintbrush, it was nonstop giggles and colorful chaos — in the cutest, most heartwarming way.
I loved how relaxed and natural it all felt. Mary didn’t worry about keeping things clean or picture-perfect — she just let Lena be herself, and they genuinely enjoyed the time together. That’s what made it so special. The way Mary laughed when paint ended up on Lena’s nose, or how she gently helped her mix colors — those were the moments that stuck with me.
These are the kinds of sessions I love most — laid-back, a little messy, and full of real connection. It wasn’t about posing or perfection. It was about slowing down and making a memory together.
Mary, thank you for trusting me to capture this season of life. And Lena, thank you for the laughs and for showing me your masterpiece (which definitely deserved to be hung on the fridge forever).
If you’ve ever thought about doing something simple and creative with your little one, I can’t recommend sessions like this enough. You get to spend quality time together and walk away with photos that truly feel like you.
